A preliminary encounter with the capital
We cross the city from east to west, from the higher hills to the Senne valley… Our route therefore takes us (mostly) downhill through various neighbourhoods: from the Parc du Cinquantenaire and the European Institutions, via the aristocratic Place Royale, the tourist area around the Grand-Place, the car-free central boulevards and the Quartier du Port, to Molenbeek. From the saddle you will gain insight into a thousand years of urban development: from the higher-lying neighbourhoods where medieval power was based, via the 20th-century scar of the north-south rail link, to renovation and new construction projects in old working-class neighbourhoods by the Canal. At Tour & Taxis we will find out about the challenges of the city of tomorrow.
